Haileybury Tournament January 2011

The Pilgrims returned to Haileybury as defending champions, after their superb victory in 2009, and the snow of 2010. In spite of the icy conditions, The Pilgrims were quickly into their stride with a fine 3-1 victory against Haileybury 1st XI. This was followed by a 2-0 victory against Berkhamsted 1st XI, during which, after scoring both goals early, the schoolboys were given a master class in retaining the ball and passing it around.  In the final game, a victory against Old Haileyburians would have sealed the title; however, The Pilgrims were made to pay for failing to take advantage of numerous first half chances, and eventually ran out of steam, to lose 1-4 to a strong Old Haileyburians side who beat us into second place overall.

Thanks must go to Andy Searson for a superbly organised tournament, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part.

Match Report - Old Boys Hockey Tournament - Sunday 13th September 2009
University of Westminster Sports Grounds, Chiswick, West London.

TEAMS: Bradfield, Canford, Charterhouse, Cheltenham, Sherborne and Wellington.

The venue was the University of Westminster's sports facility in Chiswick, boasting one sand and one water based Astroturf.
